Elephant Nature Lodge Guest Information

At the Knysna Elephant Park, we care about the experience of every single guest and family member that enters our doors and our sole purpose, as always, is your health and safety.

 

Considering the rapidly evolving COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, we are taking standards for hygiene and cleanliness very seriously, as well as additional steps to ensure the safety of our guests and staff members. We are adopting all the published standard recommendations and following the authority’s regulations to reduce exposure to and transmission of a range of illnesses, which include hand and respiratory hygiene, practices.

 

The following protocols must be adhered to by guests when booking and checking-in to the Knysna Elephant Park Lodge:

  1. All guests must complete an online Medical and Travel Declaration before arrival.
  2. All guests must have their temperature scanned with a non-contact thermometer and undergo a symptom screening. If a guest’s temperature is high (temperature screening exceeding 37.5°C) and/or they display any COVID-19 symptoms they will not be permitted to check-in and will be referred to a medical facility
  3. All guests will be required to wear cloth masks when entering the premises and when participating in any experiences. Guests will not be required to wear a cloth mask when they are in their Lodge room.

A sanitizing station is set up at the entrance to the Lodge where hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes are available. We encourage guests to wipe down their luggage upon entry. All rooms are equipped with individual hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes.

 

Food and Beverage:

Our minibars are stocked with a limited range of drinks and will be restocked before each new check-in and on requests for guests staying >3 days.

Regrettably, no food will be served. Guests are encouraged to enjoy take-out meals in the comfort of their lodge rooms or to dine at any of the recommended restaurants within Plettenberg Bay or Knysna.

 

Housekeeping:

Our team has been trained in enhanced cleaning procedures, to include both personal hygiene and new cleaning methods. The housekeeping team have been equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment and are following the COVID-19 guidelines provided by the local health authorities.

For the safety of our guests and staff, there will be no housekeeping or turndown services during your stay at the Elephant Lodge. Lodge Rooms will be cleaned and sanitized after guests check-out.

 

Linen:

All linen and towels will be washed on the hottest wash cycle (80°C) and will be ironed on a high heat setting. Towels are tumble-dried until fully dried.

Linen change will take place every 3-4 days for guests staying >3 days.

 

Social Distancing:

Housekeeping staff will only have access to Lodge Rooms once guests have check-out and before guests check-in.

The number of guests in our lodge at one time will be limited.

We ask that guests respect social distancing during their stay with us.

 

Presently, several of our on-site facilities remain closed, including our Elephant Curio Shop and Indlovu Café.

Please note, as per the Government Regulations the on-site consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
