On 5th May 2017, we were very fortunate to welcome three new females to our herd. Amari, Shanti and Madiwa were translocated to KEP from another facility. Towards the end of their first month, the girls were introduced to the rest of the herd. This was a slow process where for a few days a week, the two groups met briefly in the morning. As the months passed, they began to spend longer periods of time together and now, nearly two years later, the two groups spend the whole day grazing and roaming around the Park.
It has taken a lot of time and patience for these two groups to learn to trust each other, but now we are very happy to see friendships growing between the elephants. Madiwa has become quite good friends with both boys!
